Will I Make It On The Radio
By Pat Younger
Will I make it on the radio
I remember ever since I was able
Listening to Hank at the kitchen table
With Mom and Dad and friends on Saturday night
And I think even way back then
I wanted to play and sing like him
Somewhere on a country stage in the spotlight
Will I make it on the radio
Sing my way to the Opry show
Just the way my Daddy’s idols did
Will I ever have a hit Hank
Tell me Mister what you think
It’s been a lifelong dream since I was kid
Daddy bought me my first guitar
Practiced hard but never got far
But it started that dream I have inside
Well Daddy died in “82”
He said , “Sure am proud to have a boy like you”
Just remember to play and sing with pride
I thought I’d found my career
Garage bands and drinking beer
When my pay was all that I could drink
Playing bars and out all night
Never really feeling right
I guess getting straight was the missing link
Got married had a family
Two kids a wife and me
Had to put my music to the side
Then Momma died just last year
I hear that music I shed a tear
And it brings to mind that dream inside
Well I remember ever since I was able
