Happy Birthday Momma
By Thomas Geraghty
In 20 and 8 my momma was born
And the light from her smile warmed a cold winter's morn
She grew with a faith that made her strong
And now 80 years later I wrote her this song
She married my dad back in '49
He was a hard working man gentle and kind
He fell deeply in love with his new wife
And that love would sustain him the rest of his life
Momma don't cry
I'm by your side
Have the time of your life
On your birthday
Momma don't cry
Wipe the tears from your eyes
I love you and wish you
Happy birthday
She raised 10 kids with love and care
Taught us to pray, work hard and be fair
Gave us direction and peace of mind
And she knows that we love her the rest of our time
I hope you enjoy your own special day
All your wishes come true, send your troubles away
It's a special occasion I hope you enjoy
Here's to 80 years of life and 80 years more
Momma don't cry
I'm by your side
Have the time of your life
On your birthday
Momma don't cry
Wipe the tears from your eyes
I love you and wish you
Happy birthday
