Poseidon
Lyrics by Thomas Geraghty
Music by Pat Younger
Abandon ship I am sinking
Take me from this awesome storm
Of Mother Earth I am thinking
Float me from the ocean's harm
In the water I am dying
Drifting in solitary wait
From the water here me crying
Find me I'm the ocean's bait
Yielding to the ocean's rhythm
Living entirely on a creed
Then I dreamed I saw Poseidon
Horse-drawn chariot on the sea
Steadfast with his mighty scepter
As he calmed the vicious waves
The unmistakable proprietor
Led me from my certain grave
Such a poised god-like creature
With his trident in his hand
Fiery eyes his greatest feature
Cast me up upon the land
Then I woke upon the seashore
Sand and salt smudged in my face
I looked back on my adventure
And Mother Earth I did embrace
Now I gaze out on the ocean
I vowed never to sail again
But if I ever get the notion
I'll christen the new Poseidon

Written after a fishing trip on the Ohio river.
The night we were on the river the weather
became very stormy with high winds, the
water was white capping and you couldn't
see 10 feet in front of the boat. I don't believe
I was ever that glad that a fishing trip was over!
